Warren Sapp arrested, charged with domestic battery. He will not be part of the NFL Super Bowl coverage, as previously scheduled.


Warren Sapp is accused of choking his girlfriend of two years. Sapp and his girlfriend had been partying at The Shore Club, a hotel in Miami. The woman was tired and asked Sapp for the hotel key, so she could go back to the room. Sapp woke her up a few hours later and an argument began. The alleged domestic battery took place in Sapp's hotel room.

According to the police affidavit, Sapp tried to choke the woman and pushed her down on a couch. The argument continued and Sapp grabbed her by her shirt and neck and threw her down again.

According to the the police report, the victim had bruises on her neck and a swollen knee.

Warren Sapp is currently sitting in a Miami-Dade County jail waiting to appear before a judge today.

UPDATE Warren Sapp has just been released from jail on a $1,500 bond.

Sapp is not flashing his usual big smile in his mug shot (above).

Sapp had a busy Super Bowl Weekend planned. Besides covering the Super Bowl, he was due to host a party last night at the B.E.D. nightclub in Miami.

Some of Warren Sapp's fans are expressing their support for him on Twitter. People are tweeting @QBKILLA expressing their support despite the charges. A few fans are tweeting their disappointment calling him a woman beater, but they are in the minority.
